Resumen
This contribution estimates the Intensity of Surface Urban Heat Island (SUHI) during the period 2001-2016 for the Metropolitan Area of Huancayo (AMH) and Arequipa (AMA), located in Peru. To quantify the SUHI, 2 methods were used: the Streutker method (Streutker, 2002), and the quantile method proposed by Flores (Flores, 2016). Both methods use data from remote sensing of monthly LST and annual product of land cover type (Land Cover Type) at 0.05 ° resolution, obtained from the MODerate resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) sensor on board the TERRA and AQUA satellite. The surface urban heat island intensity diurnal, obtained with the quantile method in the AMH, shows the maximum values in March (6.94°C) and minimum values in August (2.79°C). and the SUHI at night obtained present maximum values in August (6.06°C) and minimum values in March (3.76°C). Likewise, the SUHI diurnas in the AMA, shows the maximum values in February (5.54°C) and minimum values in August (2.14°C), and the SUHI at night presents maximum values in February (6.38°C) and minimum values in June (4.62°C).
