N2 - This article evaluates and proposes a network monitoring system based on the SNMP protocol. The proposal of the monitoring system is based on free software tools, such as Cacti and Ntopng. For the evaluation, the bandwidth consumption and the most used internet services (YouTube, Facebook, web, mail, and others) were considered. The assessments were carried out in the environments of the National University of Huancavelica in Peru.
