N2 - The general objective of the study was to analyze the situation of poverty in a reality of figures at the international and Latin American levels. The paradigm that supported the research was positivist, the approach was quantitative, non-experimental design, descriptive level; the sample was constituted by statistics that reflect worrying realities in diverse geographical contexts, allowing its description and analysis. For this purpose, a search of diverse information was developed, both theoretical and informative; statistics covering the years 2000 to 2023; which has allowed reconstructing and interpreting the term poverty in diverse constructs and dimensioning it; for this purpose, diverse economic indicators have been discriminated, as in the case of the Gini index. One of the main final reflections of this study was that the “quality of life” is inversely proportional to poverty, both are related; although poverty rates have decreased, what is evident is that extreme poverty tends to remain permanently; in the case of Latin America, the events of the years 2020 and 2021 sharply increased poverty rates.
